<h1>The Highland Council - 6 Month Trainee Placements</h1>

<p><h3>What do we offer?</h3>

<p>As part of its commitment to Youth Employment The Highland&nbsp;Council has established the Trainee Programme to provide you with training opportunities through practical work experience.</p>

<p>The project will provide up to 6 months in a paid training placement within the Council if you are experiencing difficulties in securing training or employment.<br />
A&nbsp;range of posts will be available to provide practical work experience in sectors where there is likely to be employment through natural turnover of staff or where you may decide&nbsp;you want to pursue further training.&nbsp; These will be advertised throughout the year as and when they become available.&nbsp; Assistance will be given to&nbsp;help you with job search throughout&nbsp;your placement and&nbsp;you may additionally apply for any Highland Council vacancies that are open to&nbsp;internal advert, including vacancies with High Life Highland and NHS.</p>

<h3>Who can apply?</h3>

<p>Anyone&nbsp;aged between 16 - 24 not in education, training&nbsp;or employment and&nbsp;experiencing difficulties in securing employment or training.&nbsp; Opportunities are available Highland-Wide.</p>

<h3>What can I achieve?</h3>

<p>As part of your placement you will:</p>

<ul>
	<li>Learn about an area of work or a business sector that may be of interest to&nbsp;you&nbsp;for future learning or employment;</li>
	<li>Have the opportunity to&nbsp;learn and demonstrate&nbsp;your abilities, competencies and ability to work with others; and</li>
	<li>Build a personal portfolio / C.V. that will assist you in obtaining future employment.</li>
</ul>

<p>You will also be able to undertake training opportunities through the Employee Development Team at The Highland Council.&nbsp; These&nbsp;could include&nbsp;qualifications such as EDCL, SVQs, First Aid, Account systems and many more.</p>

<h3>Can I get a training allowance?</h3>

<p>You will be entitled to receive a wage set at the Living Wage amount per hour - currently &pound;8.33 (June 2017).&nbsp; This will be reviewed each year.</p>
