As part of its commitment to Youth Employment The Highland Council has established the Trainee Programme to provide you with training opportunities through practical work experience.
The project will provide up to 6 months in a paid training placement within the Council if you are experiencing difficulties in securing training or employment.
A range of posts will be available to provide practical work experience in sectors where there is likely to be employment through natural turnover of staff or where you may decide you want to pursue further training. These will be advertised throughout the year as and when they become available. Assistance will be given to help you with job search throughout your placement and you may additionally apply for any Highland Council vacancies that are open to internal advert, including vacancies with High Life Highland and NHS.
Anyone aged between 16 - 24 not in education, training or employment and experiencing difficulties in securing employment or training. Opportunities are available Highland-Wide.

You will also be able to undertake training opportunities through the Employee Development Team at The Highland Council. These could include qualifications such as EDCL, SVQs, First Aid, Account systems and many more.
You will be entitled to receive a wage set at the Living Wage amount per hour - currently £8.33 (June 2017). This will be reviewed each year.
